Winter means cashmere sweaters, fur jackets, and thermal leggings. Luckily for us girls, the top trends this this season are not only fashionable, but also, very comfortable.

We are wired to think that “pain is beauty”, but this season, I would like to bring to your attention to 3 emerging trends that prove quite the opposite. This year, leaving wedge sneakers behind, New Balance tennis shoes have risen to their glory. Fashion “It” girls from Russian Miroslava Duma to Leandra Medine (a.k.a the Man Repeller) have been spotted all over the globe showing off their kicks. Let me be honest with you, wearing my Balances while commuting from my Bikram yoga class uptown, to my hairdresser downtown and my school in midtown makes my life stylish with ease.

Another trend that has taken runways by storm is normcore fashion. Chanel has introduced this style on its catwalk, and now it has spread all over the streets. The normcore trend basically means you can walk around all day in your pajamas, paired with your old Berkinstocks, and your grandma’s coat, and be as fashionable as one can be. No one rocks this look better than the Olsen twins.

Lastly, my favorite trend of this season has to be cullotes. They are women’s trousers, usually knee-length or calf-length, cut full to resemble skirts that were introduced in the French Revolution. For casual wear, you can pair them with sandals, and for a night out, dress them up with magnificent heels. Check out cullotes from Alexander Wang, Stella Mccartney, and Topshop.
