Have you ever googled an object to find out how much it costs? Earlier this month, the cost-estimating website Fixr.com put together a map of the world with the most-Googled for object in every country, using the formula of “how much does … cost in ..(x country) ?”
So what are people really searching for?
While the results are far from scientific (Google autocomplete results vary based on the searcher’s history, time of search, and place of search), they do give an indication of how countries are seen around the world.
What is the most searched product in Switzerland? Quite predictably, a Rolex.
And what would you expect for Russia? No, it’s not Vodka. It’s “to fly a mig”.
Can you guess North America? It’s quite interesting and it ranges from “Passport” to “tummy tuck”.
Most disturbing is Brazil: the most searched word is “prostitute”.
