Coco Chanel has once said: “Some people think luxury is the opposite of poverty. It is not. It is the opposite of vulgarity.” I hereby present to you my favourite top 3 cars of the season.

3. Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse

This baby is not just a pretty face. It has a circa $2.5 million starting price, 1,200 hp, 8-liter, 16-cylinder engine and o-62 mph of 2.6 seconds. Moreover, it has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the fastest street-legal production car in the world, and this is quite an achievement!

The owners of this beauty include Roustam Tariko (the head of Russian Standard Vodka), Christiano Ronaldo, Jay-Z (arguably as a present from Beyonce), Tom Cruise, Ralph Lauren, Flo Rida and many others. And who could blame them? This beauty is a true powerful and fast beast with the exterior that signals wealth like no other.

2. Rolls Royce Phantom EWB

By spending around $500,000 you are effectively obtaining a 453bhp, 531lb ft, 0-62mph6.1secs, vmax 149mph, 19.1mpg, CO2 347g/km toy. Top Gear has described this car to be “so big and smooth, it should probably have sails. And a tiller. When it comes to stately speed, nothing does it better than a Rolls.

Just recently Rolls Royce has announced its new Project Cullinan that should bring “hot” a new meaning. Rolls Royce SUV will be smaller than its current counterpart and the company says this mule features no design aspects of the eventual ‘high-sided, all-terrain motor car.”

1. Tesla Model S

Let’s be frank. The above cars may all be beautiful to look at, they are fast and they signal wealth to the society. Quite frankly, however, you need to spend a lot of money to maintain that beauty. In other words, Tesla car is not only about the beauty, but also about the substance. I am more impressed by $20 billion net worth Makr Zuckerberg driving a $30,000 hatchback, than a $3 million net worth Mr “Smith” drivinga Ferrari. Therefore, this is an article for those who like to be practical about luxury. Let me introduce you to my personal favourite car – Tesla.

Just a few days ago BGR has reported that Tesla Model S car sales have hit its record sales volume. This car is a plug-in electric five-door luxury car. In fact, “The Guardian” has described this baby as an “Aston Martin of the electric car world”. This name was deserved for a reason – Tesla is fast, it is chic, it is economical (i.e., no car tax) and safer for environment and the passengers. Basically, 30mph, 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, up to 265 miles, CO2 0g/km at point of use.

Moreover, Forbes has named Tesla number 1 fuel efficient car. No surprise here, taking into consideration the car is electrically charged and offers a choice of three different battery packs, each delivering progressively greater range and power, with a maximum driving distance on a charge claimed to be excess of 300 miles.
