What is personal branding?
Personal branding. We all do it in some way or another..whether it be through social media (such as Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram) or just giving off a certain persona in front of friends or family. Personal branding is basically marketing yourself in such a way to give a certain image to the people around you (and even your personal audience on and offline). Working on your identity raises your influence. Making a name and building yourself as a product will constantly draw people towards you. Not only does building your personal brand help in business or your career, it lays a path in gaining future success in whatever field you may take.
Just look at the owner and creator of Chic Overdose, Ms. Xenia Tchoumitcheva. From gaining a mass following on social media, to building her education majoring in economics, to having the knowledge to speak six languages fluently… she continues to build her personal value and brand. Not only does she consistently improves her skill set, she has her professional experiences of being a writer, spokeswoman, television host, blogger, and of course, model. With such a strong presence, skill set, and magnetic personality, her personal brand is at the top of its class.
Want to build your own personal brand? Here’s how:
What image do you want to give those around you? Do you want to be known for being an expert on a certain topic? Do you want to be known for your character and persona? At the very least, you have to make up your mind what kind of person you want people to see you as. It will take time to build your reputation and brand, but it will be worth it.
Time to start employing that image. Constantly work on communication with those around you. Focus on highlighting the traits you want to show off the most. Grow your social media presence and show the side that you want people to see. Always engaging with people will also improve your networking capabilities. Get out of your comfort zone if you need to. Through this, you will find many more business opportunities, professional relationships, and a bigger audience.
Promote, Promote, Promote
Read the article on taking control of the room . Having the right body language, the ability to break the ice, conversing smoothly, and establishing a presence all take part in promoting yourself. Think of yourself as a product and market yourself to everyone that crosses your path. Remember, you never know when opportunity will come, so always be ready! Work up to positions that will put you into places of power and authority. Be a game changer and make yourself into an icon.
